CopyFlow Gold for InDesign CS3 or CS4- Running CopyFlow Gold on a Folder Of InDesign Documents |
The CopyFlow Gold plug-in for Adobe InDesign CS3 or CS4 batch exports and batch imports text in separate or single RTF, Adobe tag, or plain text files. In short, the textual contents of an entire document are easily round-tripped. CopyFlow Gold is often used to quickly extract formatted text from an InDesign document for translation purposes and to return the content after translation. See CopyFlow Gold for InDesign for details on its stand-alone use before attempting to batch process a folder as described below.
The Batch Folder script will prompt you to select a folder of InDesign documents to be processed - i.e., batch export or batch import. The script will then process each InDesign document in the selected folder according to your instructions by opening the document and calling CopyFlow Gold to process its text.
A Batch Process Workflow
Installation
The script CFGBatchFolder.jsxbin should be moved from your Naps folder to the Scripts Panel folder - as described in the Installation notes in the delivery .zip
Step - By - Step
1. Before launching the Batch Folder script use the standard CopyFlow Gold preferences to establish your CFG Preferences - export/import type, encodings, etc.
2. Put copies of the InDesign documents you wish to process in a single folder. For your first batch only use 1 or 2 simple documents.
3. Use the InDesign Scripts Palette to launch the script CFGBatchFolder.jsxbin. (menu: Windows->Automation->Scripts)
4. As the Batch script begins to run it will prompt you to locate the folder of InDesign documents in Step 2.
5. This dialog will be displayed:

Dialog settings:
· The Information Panel confirms the path to the directory containing the InDesign documents and lists the number of InDesign documents found there.
·The Options Panel is where the batch operation is configured.
Once the setting have been made click OK or Cancel.
Clicking Cancel now is the last opportunity to stop the batch from running to its completion.
6. Then batch process will then begin. The first document in the folder will be opened. You will be prompted ONCE to select a folder in which to place the export text files or from which to import text. When using the CFG Batch folder script for a CFGImport - it is important to use the same file name as when the file was exported. This will be the InDesign document name with the file extension.
For example; exporting "Hist.indd" to a single RTF file will produce "Hist.rtf", or to a single Adobe Tag file will produce "Hist.tag". These same names are expected on import. If the file matching the sought import name cannot be found, you will be prompted to locate the file.
CFG Batch Log File
A log file is written for each session. The log file is named "logFile.txt" and is stored in the folder of batched InDesign documents
.
