Press Release
Concord, MA, February 8, 2002 – North Atlantic Publishing Systems will make two product announcements at Seybold Seminars New York this month. One introduces "PubBox", a new product, providing small and mid-size publishers with a "document and workflow management system straight out-of-the-box". The second introduces a new XML Toolset to be shown alongside NTS - NAPS' award winning conversion software - solving some of the toughest problems of Quark-XML translation and doing so in an automated batch process.
Both products will be demonstrated on the show floor at North Atlantic Publishing Systems, Booth 533, at the Seybold Seminars New York, February 20-22.
In addition, North Atlantic will be demonstrating the latest versions of its well-known products, NPS™ and HNJ Engine™. This follows another extremely busy past ten months, which included new installations at Key3Media, Zondervan Publishing, and the United Methodist Publishing House. It also included the first European installation of NTS, at GMG - Liechtensteiner Volksblatt, and NPS upgrades at such notable sites as Texas Monthly, Harvard Business Review, and Pearson Education.
PubBox
NAPS is announcing, and demonstrating for the first time,
"PubBox", a plug-and-play workflow and document management solution aimed at
small and mid- size publishers. PubBox provides these features "out-of-the-box".
It is browser- based, offers full check-out/check-in functionality, version and
access control, and combines NAPS industry-renowned logical job hierarchy with
user interface simplicity and customizable workflow features. PubBox installs
easily and quickly, and is shipped pre-configured according to customer
specifications (input remotely via Word or web forms). PubBox installs and
trains in 3 days.
New Quark (or Word) to XML Conversion Toolset.
NTS will be shown -
for the first time ever - converting tabular matter, math equations, special
characters, ordered lists, as well as processing unpublished metadata. It will
also be shown solving style and geometry inconsistencies, and performing image-
name conversion. The file conversions will be batch processes and conversions to
XML from a combination of Quark documents and Word RTF files. These capabilities
highlight an impressive list of all-new software features being shown publicly
for the first time at Seybold.
At Seybold, NAPS will show two new XTension tools called "Namer" and "Clicker". As part of the XML Toolset, "Namer" and "Clicker" are designed to work with NTS's XML batch conversions. They interactively, and extremely rapidly, preprocess any special Quark documents requiring manual intervention. They feature ease-of-use, interactive operator feedback, computer-generated or operator box-naming options, and multiple-undo capability. They provide rapid element sequencing and box naming conventions for those Quark pages requiring them.
At Seybold, NAPS will show an XML workflow incorporating Word/Quark collaborative authoring, editing, and page building, batch XML conversion of the Quark/Word documents, subsequent hot folder conversion of XML to HTML, integration with SoftQuad's XMetal authoring tool, and XML file storage, including metadata, in our document repository.
